COACHES EMAILS UNDER STAFF
JANEEN JOHNSON: Bill Emeigh retired at the end of the 2009-10 school year. Janeen has stepped up to take Bill's position as assistant athletic director. She is doing a great job and enjoys what she is doing. Janeen is an NCH alumi that had a storied athletic career at NCH. She has served as a coach on several of the girl's program including serving as Joanna Sears's assistant coach the year the Trojans were in the girl's basketball state semi final game in Columbus.
RANDOM DRUG TESTING: North College Hill has received a federal grant to fund random drug testing at North College Hill. The testing will be done up to three times per month with about 20% of the student athletes being tested each testing time. Testing will be for the major drugs used by teenagers, steroids and alcohol. The student athletes will be randomly selected and may be selected more than once during the season. To participate in interscholastic athletics at North College Hill, the student athlete and the family must agree to participate in the random drug testing.
FOOTBALL: for the second straight year, the Trojans have advance to the OHSAA football playoffs as the Trojans sit on the verge of the first 10-0 season in the histroy of North College Hill. Left on the regular season schedule is New Miami at home on Friday October 30. A Trojan victory over the Vikings will give NCH a 10-0 record, first place in the Miami Valley Conference and should provide North College Hill with the home field for the first OHSAA tournament. The Trojans are in this position after beating Lockland Friday night at Lockland. Both teams were undefeated going into the game. Lockland got on the score board first with a field goal, but then NCH took control. The Trojans came out fired up and played enthusiastic ball all night. Keys to the game were numerous. Robert Shannon attacking the Lockland wedge on kick offs kept Lockland from getting good field position. Angelo Pruitt busting through the middle on defense to destroy the Lockland offensive flow. Stefone Grace showing that great speed of his going 60 to 70 yards returning a fumble recovery. Of course, the striking power of the offense led by Lucien Kidds hard running and Dakota Dartis's actuate passing allowed the Trojans to move up and down the field and score often. Those were the easy things to see. Not as easily noticed is how well the young offensive line preformed to keep the offense moving, opening holes for Lucien or protecting Dakota. In light of the issues that the Bengals had earlier in the season with the center snap, Savon McFarland needs to be recognized for always making the snaps to Dakota to get our offense rolling.
OHSAA FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS: NCH is scheduled to play Saturday November 7 at 7PM. Tickets at the gate will be $9.00, but starting Tuesday November 3, tickets can be prepurchased for $7.00 at North College Hill. The prices are set by the OHSAA which sponsors the football playoffs.
ELIGIBILITY: North College Hill City Schools follow the Ohio High School Athletic Association's eligibility policies as required. In addition to the OHSAA policy which requires that grades be checked at the end of each grading period, NCH also does two progress report checks during each grading period. This allows North College Hill and the student athlete to have a better understanding of the athlete's academic progress. The athlete can not wait until the end of the quarter and make that desperation "sprint" in an attempt to be eligible. Student athletes at North College Hill must start at the beginning of the quarter and maintain their work throughout the grading period to remain academically eligible at North College Hill. PHYSICALS: To participate in interscholastic athletes, a student athlete must have a current physical on file in the Athletic Director's office. A current physical is a physical within the last 12 months. The physical must be on the required Ohio High School Athletic Association form and all pages signed.
